The story follows two simple as well as incorrigible petty crooks, who always fail spectacularly in search of the big coup.

1964 in Berlin, not long after the raise of the wall that separated the city: ex-prisoner Bruno is chosen by the eastern secret agency to be sent west with a special order. However as soon as he's crossed the border, he reports to the police. He claims his order was to kidnap someone, but he doesn't know who yet. He's forced to continue feignedly. However the east agents don't really trust him and play a double game...

An entrepreneur of social prestige gets intimate with the housekeeper, while his wife has a lover who is 20 years younger than her, whom she eventually loses to her nymphomaniac daughter.

East Germany, late 1970s. At an East Berlin clinic reserved for high-ranking officials, two men meet who have only one thing in common: both suffer from heart disease and are terminally ill.
