The film is based on a conflict between the director of a textile mill and the chief engineer, who regards the initiative of the director for automation of the enterprise as a projection project. However, thanks to young specialists, the director achieves the implementation of his plans by solving the demographic problem of the textile town and providing men with jobs.

A son comes to Leningrad on the birthday of his mother. He is the director of a large Siberian construction, twice married, happy in work, and in family life. His second wife Lida is also here. She brought her son and daughter with her. The youth of the mother of the family fell on the 30s. Life practically did not change its principles and beliefs. Short stories that seem to be absolutely different, none of the main characters is connected with the other one, each following story is totally unlike the previous one. This is a modern story of a prosperous family, in whose harmonious way of life a young man, a former partner of her husband in creating a computer network, breaks into. Involving his wife in a love affair, he pretends to be a messenger from Shambhala. At some point, she is ready to believe him, despite her husband's convictions that her chosen one is crazy. The psychologically tense action is set off by episodes of the hero's fantasies, in which the intrigue is given a comic effect, so there is no reason to assume a tragic ending.

The black room. Enclosed space. The action unfolds as if slowly. You understand that every word, every gesture of the heroes have a special, secret, as yet absolutely incomprehensible meaning. But you feel: you can't miss a single nuance. There are two or three heroes in each novel. There is a real drama between them, which ends with an explosion. Sometimes figuratively, and sometimes literally. Time is continuous: there is no yesterday and tomorrow.
