Vasily Livanov’s historical movie carries the viewer back into the 18th century and tells the story of the monument to Peter the Great through Alexandr Sergeevich Pushkin’s poem «The Bronze Horseman». The sculptor Étienne Maurice Falconet comes from France at the invitation of the Empress Ekaterina the 2nd to erect the monument. Thanks to the master’s meticulous work and painstaking creative search the monument has become not only a masterpiece of art but one of the symbols of Russia.

They are all united by faith in victory, hope that the impossible is possible and, of course, a love of dancing. It is she who pushes young dancers to answer the main question for them: "Can I dance better than myself?"

Anton Ebergard, a journalist famous for his cutting exposes on dirty public officials, is falling on hard times. His new book’s selling poorly; he was thrown out of his job in a prestigious newspaper. Anton’s daughter takes part in street protests and ends up behind bars. Money’s scarce: the bank is pressuring Anton who’s behind on his mortgage payments. To get a job as a publicity officer at a city council Anton has to go against his convictions. He warns the corrupt Mayor that the law enforcement’s planning to catch him red-handed when taking a bribe.

The events unfold from 1924 to the present day. Almost the entire epoch is involved, with all the historical characters of our country. The picture is a drama of a Jewish family, which the viewer will follow for 100 years, with the change of epochs, the characters and everything that happens around will change.
