Undeterred by warnings that this has already been done by an American named 'Prisney,' he rallies an orchestra of geriatric women, a bullish conductor, and an animator that he keeps locked in the dungeon. A utopia about Finland in the year 2000, when man is finally the master of himself and his world. In the imaginary year 2000, a historical documentary series is created to provide a look at the irrational history of man in the 20th century, with all the wars and all that. The setting is an ascetic futuristic home, outside of which people move around in personal helicopters. The optimism about the future culminates in a school presentation shown simultaneously on giant screens in living rooms across the country, in which rational thinking is shown to have finally reached its fulfillment. On the other hand, faith in the development of humanity and a peaceful future is reflected in this post-war, escapist and dogmatic vision of the future.

From the Rai Arturo Toscanini Auditorium, conductor Juraj Valčuha presents the Rai premiere in Turin of Jean Sibelius’s Symphonic Poem Op. 73, *Aallottaret* (The Oceanides), followed by the *Four Sea Interludes* from Benjamin Britten’s masterpiece *Peter Grimes*. In the second half of the programme, the mood shifts with two masterpieces of extreme expressive power: the Concert Suite from Béla Bartók’s one-act pantomime The Miraculous Mandarin and Maurice Ravel’s La valse, composed between 1919 and 1920, when Europe was attempting to emerge from the ruins of the Great War.

Norwegian conductor Tabita Berglund leads the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Archora, Wagner's Prelude to Tristan and Isolde, and Sibelius' Seventh Symphony. In the first half, Julian Steckel performs Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1.

As part of the Usedomer Musikfestival 2025, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra will perform works by Wilhelm Stenhammar and Jean Sibelius under the baton of Jukka-Pekka Saraste. The programme includes four songs by Sibelius, sung and arranged by Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund, as well as the composer's Symphony No. 6.

The historic Toscanini television concerts with the NBC Symphony Orchestra. Broadcast #8 was of a concert on March 15, 1952, at Carnegie Hall, featuring Sibelius's En Saga, two of Debussy's Nocturnes, and Franck's Redemption. (Concerts #8 and #9 were released on "Vol. 5" in the DVD series.)
