Situated in Prague, a 20-year-old Vietnamese named Song, hoped for a better future in Europe. But now in a Vietnamese district in Prague, he is trapped in a marijuana grow house and has life of a modern slave. Police rounds up the place. Song runs away on the rooftop of a condo building in a nearby district where he breaks down. Mr. Rypar (78) lives alone. He is fond of the old times, living in a strong opposition to modern world. Rypar goes up on the roof and meets Song standing on the very edge of the roof crying and the story begins.

The story of Eman Diblínek, who would like to have a romantic and, above all, extramarital affair with a typist named Heda, so he asks his friend, the writer Arnošt, to lend him his apartment. Arnošt is "coincidentally" leaving his apartment permanently, so he lets Eman use it, which sets off a series of humorous and romantic misunderstandings that Arnošt could not have imagined even in his novels.

The film intertwines several stories connected by one important football match between Sparta and Slavia.

On the eve of Christmas, successful expatriate Karel returns to his quiet mountain village, and suddenly every marriageable girl in town vies for his hand, even storming his cottage. Famous actor Bořivoj Vojan arrives unexpectedly at a student film festival in a small town. The smug, aging man has bruised his ribs on the way and his frustration deepens with every passing minute of his stay – the amateurish organization of the festival, the lousy food, the private accommodation with the confused grandmother Pánková. What's more, he has no idea that one of the most unpleasant encounters awaits him, with the local drunk journalist Merhautová. But there is also tension among the students who organize the festival – Míra is ambitious and promiscuous, Šárka is kind and naive, Jana is beautiful and manipulative, and Matyáš is perpetually stoned and childishly in love.

Two police detectives, one a rookie and the other an experienced veteran, are far from clean. They are pursuing two criminals who are robbing small post offices and bank branches. During the raid and shootout, the rookie shoots one of the robbers. This changes his whole life. He is investigated by the Ministry of the Interior, leaves the police force, struggles to find work, his wife leaves him, and he starts drinking. Even his experienced colleague turns his back on him. Meanwhile, the robber who survived the shootout is planning a "big heist" with a recently released prisoner – an attack on a money transport. But this gang has no idea that they are being watched by the older of the two police officers...
