Colorful characters of various ages, personalities, professions, and hobbies are all searching for happiness, though each in a different place and with a different outcome.

Thief Viliam, swindler Emília, and the unwitting Tobiáš are implicated in stealing St. Peter’s key. After dying and facing judgment at heaven’s gate, Saint Peter sends them back to earth with a strict deadline to recover the key or be damned. Their quest leads them to a castle where a kindly king and a beautiful princess await, but they must also outwit treacherous chancellors and foil their malicious schemes.

Alcohol, national costumes, dance, as well as confrontation with unpleasant truths – that is what lies ahead for a young girl named Eliška, who gets stuck in a mysterious pub. She has to find an answer to whether everything ends with death or, rather, it is only the beginning.

Bára Veselá is constantly pursued by bad luck and is on the run from the law. By chance, she unwillingly becomes a salesperson for the fashion department at the newly opened department store, Zlatá labuť. This store is a magnificent palace of luxury and is a new modern landmark in the center of Prague. The store holds a rich history behind its opulent storefronts. It is March 15, 1939, and German occupation forces are invading the Czechoslovakian state.
