A rube named Pepa (Leos Noha) robs cottages for cash and spends his free time swilling rum at fourth-rate establishments. The discovery of a strange video recording points him to a place where he'll find a treasure of immense value. The mysterious place in northern Bohemia, however, awakens avarice far and wide and, seemingly, it's got a plan for all those who turn up.

Like many others, Daniil has decided to leave his native Georgia and move to Prague in search of better pay. Originally a teacher, he finds a job with Ukrainian laborers controlled by a Russian boss called Sergei and thus becomes a cog in the machinery that takes advantage of the work of illegal immigrants… Vinland looks at the lives of people who exist all around us but about whom we know so little because their identities disappear the moment they relinquish their passports to the mafia who are interested only in profit.

The film, three years in the making, is generally about the rise and fall of the popularity of right-wing populist parties and specifically follows the failed political career of Petr Hampel and Martin Konvička. And above all, reflections on the future and the legacy we will leave behind, and doubts about whether this is the right world and the right time to have a child.
