A winter tale: the real experience of an imagined love.

Catherine tries to toughen herself to impress the “princes” in her circle, who turn out to be more off-putting than charming. When all her dubious strategies fail, she must face the ultimate test: learning how to embrace her true nature. In Ultra Strong, a candid and self-deprecating autofictional story by Catherine Lepage, we’re invited to reexamine our youthful ideals—from Cinderella to Iron Maiden.

Archipelago is a film of drawings and speeches, that tells and dreams a place and its inhabitants, to tell and dream a little of our world and times.

Ophélie, a jaded teenager, passes her time cycling and working at the ice cream parlor of a quiet suburban town. When a mysterious woman on a motorcycle arrives in town, her mundane summer takes an unexpected turn.

During the ice storm that hit Quebec in 1998, the inhabitants of the region known at the time as the Triangle of darkness, experienced an unprecedented power outage. In the depths of winter, the absence of heating quickly gave way to mutual aid and human warmth, suggesting that in Quebec, loneliness could be more dangerous than the cold. The film sketches the portrait of a woman and an old man whose precariousness usually remains invisible, but which the crisis situation reveals. Triangle of Darkness tells the story of how the woman tries to reproduce the human warmth that has so much marked the collective imagination of disaster victims.

In the first episode of Cinépistolaire, Carol Nguyen and Caroline Monnet respond to the themes raised by their pen pal (language, identity, belonging) while stylistically challenging each other. An exemplary case of artistic dialogue.
