Until his murder on August 18, 1944, Ernst remained true to his political convictions in the face of many setbacks.

Her classmates consider her an oddball and even her father is unhappy about his daughter′s development.

Willi Zubrodt is delegated by his department to a parachuting course at the GST. As he is not very disciplined, has no respect for the instructors and does not fit into the collective, the instructors try to show him up and force his expulsion from the course. However, the attempts to prove that he had gaps in his theory and physical condition were a complete failure. Zubrodt manages to turn the tables each time.

Erich Kubak is an excavator operator at the lignite plant. A technical weakness in the excavator, which repeatedly leads to production downtime, is causing problems for everyone. Erich works on an improvement, but this is not accepted by the chief engineer. On his own initiative, Erich carries out an experiment and causes a great deal of damage. He is dismissed as excavator operator and then resigns. Meanwhile, his son Ewald, who also works at the plant, manages to interest the chief engineer in his father's improvement proposal. Together they work on perfecting it. When Erich finds out about this, he returns to the factory.

Hans Paschke has been putting up with his wife for years. The charmer and womanizer Hans Paschke is good-looking and has perfect manners, but has nothing to do with work. But he knows how to skillfully bring his natural advantages 'to the woman'. His wife Marion tolerates his behavior until she catches him in flagrante delicto. After a fierce argument Steffi Zinn′s husband leaves the joint flat and stays away from home over night. The next morning, his wife Steffi has disappeared and is reported as a missing person. Erika and Rüdiger Dörge, both doctors, had had a long happy marriage. One day an incident occurs in the clinic where they both work, which Dr. Erika Dörge shows all of this in a new light: a seriously ill patient is struggling with death. The responsible doctor on duty, Dr. Hartke is not present, as it would have been her duty. Head physician Professor Dörge judges this misconduct, contrary to Erika's expectations, rather mildly. The film tells the story of the smelter brigade of a steel mill whose members are connected by a strong comradeship. Among the workers are, for instance, young Rolf, whom everybody just calls "Lachtaube" and who always comes through for his co-workers, or the likable Hubert, who works as a simple smelter again after being dismissed as the head of the steel mill. Then, there is also the stubborn Manfred, who should have become a brigadier long ago because of his experience and his competence, but this privilege is refused to him because Manfred is not a party member. Ironically, it is Manfred who hears by accident about the plans of the mill to close down the old Martin furnaces – and to lay off the smelters. When the other men learn about the plans they enter the barricades for their jobs and force the plant′s management to face the workers′ demands and criticism.

Polizeiruf 110 is a long-running German language detective television series. The first episode was broadcast 27 June 1971 in the German Democratic Republic, and after the dissolution of Fernsehen der DDR the series was picked up by ARD.
