A corner of Hell hasn't been meeting its quota of damned souls, so Lila, a beautiful female demon, is sent to corrupt a moral man by making him irresistible to women. But Lila hadn't counted on falling for him herself.

The action takes place on the southern outskirts of the country in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. The film tells about the struggle of the Bolsheviks and Kyrgyz peasants against the rich Bais and Basmachi for a better, just life.

The events take place during the Great Patriotic War. The mother is illiterate, unable to read or write, but since the only way to stay informed is to wait for and read letters from the front, she begins to teach herself and eventually becomes a postwoman. More than once, she has to deliver tragic news to other families, and she takes upon herself the burden of compassion for the mothers, understanding their grief and trying to ease it.

Near Bezymyanny Island, a Soviet ship struck a mine and sank, and engineer Okulich, who miraculously survived, was taken prisoner. However, he managed to escape and even took German officer Ritter with him. During a week of difficult travel to the mainland, he learns from the German about the Holzaug plan. Thirty years later, an explosion occurs on Bezymyanny Island during the construction of an astrophysical station. Now Okulich must uncover all the details of the old operation in Munich...
