Sven is a decent yet not too brilliant soldier, and his exploits are partly balanced here by the charms of a compatriot.

A romance begins to blossom between the couple, but it is revealed that Yrjö is already engaged to Virva Lieki, a dancer returning to Finland from abroad.

While living separated, Mr. Kaski finds out that her wife has written a book about their marriage. And the book is not very flattering in tone towards Mr. Kaski and his abilities as a man.

Maria Toikka is called to testify in a trial in which her husband Ville is charged. The assurances show the events that led to the trial from the previous fall, when Patron Oppman begins to approach Maria, offering her money in return for services.

Ilona Jonsson deceives the old industrialist Österberg. He takes pity on the poor girl, who looks like the doppelganger of his dead daughter. Also involved in the plot are Ilona's father, who was supposedly at sea but has just been released from prison, his accomplices Murto-Kalle and Ventti-Ville, a rival criminal gang, and the councilor's relatives, who are guarding their inheritance money.

A psychological drama of a young student who is haunted by the nightmares of the past: he has witnessed his parents committing a double-suicide. He starts to date a girl with fateful consequences.

As a result of this love affair, Margit gets pregnant Soon the war breaks out and Elmer has to go the front. As the war goes on, Elmer does not return from a patrol mission behind the enemy lines. After the war times are hard for Margit and his fatherless son.

Customs officer Tapio goes undercover to reveal a smuggling ring, which operates within an entrainment troupe. While doing his detective work, he also gets to know the beautiful dancer Leila.
