Micke is a total film nerd, who would be rather sitting home watching violent action movies than to be outside drinking and hanging out with friends. One night Micke has prepared to have an orgy of violent movies, but something rather strange interrupts his plans. While watching "Die Hard", one of the German terrorists from the film comes out of the television, and this launches a night of violence filled with known characters.

Before World War II, Swedish workers had to deal with low wages, scarce work, and the extensive importation of foreign labor, particularly for the purpose of breaking strikes. In this film, set in 1938, a half-Polish boy goes to Poland in search of his mother, runs into financial and psychological difficulties there, and is sent back to a Swedish mental hospital. In another story, an unfortunate woman suffers a miscarriage and ends up at the asylum where the Polish boy is being kept.

Former Amsterdam police detective Floris Wolfs has been transferred to the police department of the south-Dutch country town Maastricht. His metropolitan experience nicely complements the local expertise of his new country colleagues, who know the folks. Slowly he fits in, while solving countless crimes together with his female partner Eva van Dongen.
