Jean-Pierre Prévost

A squatters family live on an island on the Seine river. Despite police intervention, they refuse to leave. The young woman and a cop are killed. The father escapes with his daughter. They arrive in Honfleur and manage to get on a ship.

Sydney Fox is a professor and globe-trotting "relic hunter" who looks for ancient artifacts to return to museums and/or the descendants of the original owner. She is aided by her linguistic assistant Nigel and occasionally by her somewhat air-headed secretary Claudia. She often ends up battling rival hunters seeking out artifacts for the money.

Inspectors Duval and Moretti, inseparable cops and friends, work under the leadership of Paloma Ruiz, a commissioner with the iron hand, with the help of their favorite informer, Caesar.
