The movie tells the life story and friendship of five blacksmiths in town of Leninakan during the war and the years preceding it - as told by the son of one of the blacksmiths.

The film is based on a real story. Climbers found the purse of a military postman killed during World War II, letters sent 30 years later.

In order to increase yield in the collective farm, the process of renewal of grape varieties is underway, this process also applies to homestead vineyards. Pioneers also help elders. Papa Gigia understands the importance of the process, but he does not want to cut a vineyard on his homestead because of the memories of his youth. His grandson, Dato, who doesn't want to lag behind his comrades, starts pruning the vineyard arbitrarily, for which Papa severely punishes him. But when Dato's behavior becomes the object of criticism by the pioneers, Papa forgives his grandson and cuts the remaining vine himself.

Dato, in love with Eka, the daughter of the tax collector Ippolite, finds himself in danger. Surrounded by assailants, Ippolite, in a misunderstanding, believes Dato to be a bandit and attempts to capture him, intending to hand him over to the police. Despite this, Dato and Eka, who have often found themselves in trouble, manage to get married without Ippolite’s consent. Seeing Dato as his son-in-law deeply upsets Ippolite, but as the truth unravels, the happy couple embarks on their honeymoon.

Vazha served his sentence for stealing a cow and returned to the village. Upon his return, he decided to repair the house. His friends promised to help, but then everyone had their own business.

Poor brothers, Ali and Hussain, support their family through the dangerous and hard work. Once, while being in the open sea, they were attacked by a shark. Instead of his older brother, who died in the fight with the shark, from now on the younger one has to carry the heavy burden of the family, but he believes that when he groes up, he will escape from the poverty.

In Arabic, “mameluke” means a white slave, a prisoner. In Egypt, this name was given to prisoners of war who had been sold into slavery from Georgia and other countries of the Caucasus. The action of this drama starts in Georgia in the late 18th century. Two friends are abducted and sold into slavery. One ends up in Egypt, the other - in Venice. Years later, they meet by the ancient pyramids, in the desert where a battle is going on between the armies of Bonaparte and Ali-bey, the ruler of Egypt. In a combat with a French officer, the Mameluke injures him. Falling from his horse onto the sand, the officer exclaims in Georgian: “Vai, nana!” (“Oh, mother!”). And the Mameluke recognizes in him a mate of his childhood games.

Major Zaza is investigating a routine criminal case: murder for the purpose of robbery. However, his adversary is cunning and ruthless, a dangerous and cynical repeat offender nicknamed “The Intellectual.” Exposing this cunning criminal is proving difficult.
