Dwelling in a remote village of North Eastern India, Assam, Akoman is a 12 year old child having normal aspirations like having a national flag of his own. However, his financial situation does not allow him the same. In an attempt to make his own flag, he discovers a flag in his granary. Surprisingly, it is not the national flag. Vacillating between the two flags, he discovers realities about his missing father, insurgent ideologies and more.

Juri faces several hardships after her husband dies of AIDS. She is thrown out of her in-laws' house. Soon, she returns to her village and gives birth to a baby girl.

After years of living in America, Prasanta returns to his ancestral village in Assam, carrying cherished memories of his childhood elephant companion. When his American-raised grandson Ankur visits, a generational divide keeps them apart. As Ankur reconnects with his roots and discovers the warmth of village life, the family embarks on a heartfelt journey of love, belonging, and self-discovery.

Lokabandhoo depicts the life story of the great luminary of Assam, Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah, who during the 1930s, became a a living legend by virtrue of his untiring and unflinching devotion to the people of the state.
