Thirteen people from different parts of the world are chosen by an English nobleman to share his fortune. After his passing, they gather in his castle. However, the heirs begin to be murdered, one by one.

According to an Amazonian indigenous legend, a certain insect, Anophelis sexualis, has aphrodisiac properties: one who is bitten by it will surely die if it does not have sex within two hours. Knowing this news, Hans Muller, a scientist, moves to the habitat of the insect and collects several specimens for research in his laboratory in the city of Ilha Bela, on the coast of São Paulo. There, besides the local administration and the population, there are several tourists. By an accident, the insects flee and attack the world.

This leads to many humorous situations, as the two are constantly harassed by women from whom they always try to get away.

Eugênio Fontes is a medical student striving for upward social mobility. His impoverished childhood left him with an inferiority complex that hinders him in both his career and his romantic life; consequently, his struggles and dreams are entirely focused on achieving financial security. However, he ultimately marries Eunice—a beautiful, wealthy young woman and the daughter of the industrialist Cintra. Through his marriage to Eunice, Eugênio secures a good job and gains influential connections, such as a friendship with Felipe Lobo, a respected architect and associate of his father-in-law. Yet, as time goes by, the young doctor begins to question his marriage.

'Escolinha do Professor Raimundo' was a comedy program starring Chico Anysio, the unforgettable Professor Raimundo Nonato, and which brought together some of the biggest names in Brazilian comedy. Marked by informality and improvisation, the School was a landmark, immortalized catchphrases like "And the salary, huh?" and paved the way for new and established talents. Created in 1952 by radio host and comedian Haroldo Barbosa for Rádio Mayrink Veiga, the School arrived on TV five years later as a segment of the program Noites Cariocas, on TV Rio. For 38 years, the School was a segment hosted by Chico Anysio in various comedy programs. In 1990, it premiered as an independent program on Globo and became a classic of Brazilian television.

The main axis of the miniseries is the story of the couple Mendonça and Maria Rita. The plot begins when Mendonça, a Physics teacher, turns 40. Discouraged with life and dissatisfied with his work, he complains about the routine and lack of prospects. His big dream was to do a postgraduate degree outside of Brazil, but he ended up not taking the project forward and suffers because of it to this day. He also doesn't feel happy in his romantic relationship, having settled into a marriage that has lasted several years. Maria Rita, in turn, is a journalist and is on the rise professionally. In his personal life, he knows that his marriage is not going well and he suffers from his partner's discouragement, but he ends up having a great idea thanks to this crisis: creating an interview program on the station where he works.
