A man's wife commits suicide and appears to him as a ghost. The ghost follows him everywhere – under the bed, under tables… After seeing the ghost so frequently, the man begins to resemble her.

A group of girls from a humble little town in the middle of the desert disappears systematically without the police or the authorities taking action on the matter. Families desperately seek help, but are faced with bureaucracy, discrimination and total abandonment.

For five years Rogelio, a Chilean exile, has been in the GDR, where he works as a lighting technician at a theater. Though his colleagues try to make him feel welcome, he feels lonely and isolated.

Helga Gunkel and Flora Gutiérrez, the first women of the Chilean police, are on the trail of a criminal who has returned for revenge on Kerren, a small southern town.

The story focuses on the rehabilitation of different people who for different reasons have turned to drugs, alcohol, pills and other types of toxins in order to forget their problems.
