Ica Matache

A description of Romania before Ceausescu's downfall, through the story of Nela. Daughter of a former colonel of the Securitate, the romanian political police. She refused to become like her sister, an agent of this Securitate, and lives with her father. After he died, she leaves Bucharest, and ends up in a little town, where she meets Mitica, a surgeon, another herself, laughing at everything.

A village celebrates being granted the title of city. During the festivity an old, sick, beat down man shows up. No one seems to recognise him but he claims to be a villager that everyone thought had died in the war 30 years earlier.

This movie is about a person that was convicted in the 50s by the stalinist policy of the times, then released and re-educated at the workplace in 65, as the policy changed.

In 1946, Northern Transylvania, an armed band is annihilated by the local communist organization, which manages to rally the locals on they side.

Mihu and Filimon, two friends, are in love with the same girl, Carolina. Their rivalry takes the form of a bet. The girl knows that she is the one who must choose, and she hesitates to do so because she loves them both for purely emotional reasons.

Maria Sorescu, director of a re-education school, becomes mayor of a town. She tries to improve the predecessors' record.

A young communist returns to a small provincial town.

Problems ensue once a girl finds about her biological father which tries to be a part of her life.
