The main storyline is built around a one-hundred-manat banknote. As the banknote passes from hand to hand, it continually changes owners, but in the end, in an unexpected twist, it belongs to no one. Those who come into possession of it represent different social classes and professions—among them a traffic police officer, a singer, a fortune-teller, a mullah, and others. Thus, the 100-manat note changes hands in various ways… and all these exchanges are accompanied by comic events.

Due to the difficult financial situation in the circus, magician Zaman is demoted to a part-time role, while his beautiful assistant Atlaz is laid off. To show the circus director the difficulty of being a part-timer for a day, Zaman uses a magic trick to "divide" him in two.

Although it is not mentioned in the movie, the new generation of people living in this city, which is named as Sumgayit, especially near poisonous plants, are born crippled and sick. There is a wide range of symbolic expressions in the film and there are interesting dream scenes.
