Paul Bacher is in crisis. If he could feel in the past as one of the most influential writers of his generation, he has long lacked ideas and impetus for a new great work. His reading tours are becoming more and more a sad affair with too much alcohol and too little public. Then Paul overflows in a drunken hitchhiker, flees first scared and later removes the body, without talking to anyone about the experience. But something is flowing in its interior. Paul starts to write again. The criticism is done, but the story about the death of a hitchhiker also arouses suspicion.

Except burly macho Moskowitch 'Mosk', who cares only for the manly work out contest. The warden blackmails him, he can only do the contest if his assigned pup passes the first test. All dogs must pass or the project is halted. Unlike the others, Mosk only starts caring for his canine when it gets sick.

The unemployed salesman Wolfgang practices optimism, his friend Günther realism: The situation is shitty! But then zookeeper Günther finds a few hundred thousand Euros from his demented neighbor. The mates take the money but also the care for the old man.

When she finds out that her 20-year-old son Deniz has drifted into the drug scene and her husband Mehmet is having an affair with a colleague, her whole world collapses around her. Although desperate she is determined to fight and goes looking for Deniz. Instead she finds his girlfriend Mandy, who is also a drug addict. She decides to take care of the girl who is a stranger to her and finds herself confronted with an entirely unknown world. When she finally manages to track Deniz down to the cold-blooded dealer Hassain, he rejects her. Anam is forced to realize that painful as it is she can only help Deniz if he is prepared to accept her help

On a freezing cold winter day, several guests visit their relatives in an old people's home in the Frankfurt area. When the weather changes shortly afterwards and black ice falls over the area, the guests unexpectedly get stuck.
