Gerta grows up in 1930s Brno in a mixed Czech-German family, which brings her into conflict with her father as he embraces Nazi ideology. Despite this, they remain connected through their shared love of music. During the occupation, Gerta joins the student resistance with her beloved Karel, but the war takes everything from her and leaves her with a dark secret that shapes her future. After the war, though innocent, Gerta is violently forced into the wild expulsion and must leave her hometown with her infant daughter. She survives the hardest years on a rural farm, reunites with Karel, and returns to Brno hoping for a normal life—yet the past continues to haunt her. The two-part TV film Gerta Schnirch offers a personal view of 20th-century history through the fate of a woman caught between two worlds.

Four fathers meet in the secondary school gym, where the headmistress has summoned them after a bag containing a suspicious white powder was found amongst their sons’ belongings during a skiing trip. Each of them arrives with different excuses and the conviction that it is their child who is innocent. The feature film Diary of an Alcoholic tells the dramatic story of a young woman struggling with alcohol addiction. The main heroine (although she often does not act like a heroine) is a young mother who decided not to give up, to start treatment and to fight her demon and her family. How hard is it to admit a drinking problem? Why is not even a small child an obstacle to addiction? Where to get the strength to heal and what comes next? These and many other questions are answered by an authentic and honest cinematic confession of an abstinent alcoholic.

The story takes place over 24 hours in Prague. Klára, Viki, and Mechanik live on the edge of the law every day. Viki, a drug addict, is looking for money for his regular fix, preferably through theft. Mechanik keeps his distance; he is a dealer and does not take drugs. Klára has partially overcome her addiction, but she is troubled by the absence of a home. She is about to give birth. The neighborhood where they all live is controlled by a pair of enforcers: a former boxer and his partner Majk. Their fates will dramatically intersect during the course of the day.
