Four people lead ordinary lives in different places, their paths never crossing. A mysterious man appears in each story, always as someone else. One moment, a cram school instructor; the next, a truck driver, a barber - his identity constantly shifting. Then, death strikes. A detective pursues the truth, closing in on a revelation...

Momo and the Seven Papagenos

Twenty-five-year-old Momo has friends. Her parents live some distance away, but they sometimes get together to dine out. She dates an acceptable guy, and they share drinks at home. She apologizes to unreasonable clients over the phone at work and hones her ability to keep things civil with coworkers at drinks after work. This perfectly ordinary life means Momo doesn't immediately notice a nagging feeling: "I want to die." For her, it's a phrase she must never say aloud. One summer, unable to bear the thought of the coming Monday, Momo takes a day off from work. She begins to visit other people who struggle with thoughts of suicide, but have discovered alternatives and choose to live instead. She connects with these "Papagenos" through social media. Over the course of her difficult journey, Momo herself begins to discover other choices beyond death.

The Girl at the End of the Line

Kiyoko Tachibana, a student at an integrated middle and high school for girls in Tokyo, met Akari Okusawa, who was wearing a bright blue dress, at the start of the new school year in her first year of high school. However, Detective Iguchi from the First Investigation Division has his eye on a man whom he suspects to kill for pleasure. This man is Naoya Nogi. He lies about his identity, erases his traces in public, and lives as if he is holding his breath. Nogi is actually Masato Yaginuma, the victim in the sensational Akishima mother and son kidnapping case. He gets his neighbor, Yoshika, involved as he tries to escape the police dragnet but comes to realize some facts. What is his true motive?
