A year after his father’s death, Bahadir, a struggling artist living in Istanbul returns to the small village he grew up in to oversee the weeklong grape harvest. But what he finds is a region at grips with climate change, on the brink of abandonment, and a looming decision to make: part with his family’s heritage or fight to salvage it.

The film, which brings Turkey's recent political agenda to the big screen, highlights the effects of recent events on the present day and their traces in political life. The coup, which took place on February 7, 2012, when Hakan Fidan, the Undersecretary of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), was summoned for questioning as a suspect in the KCK investigation, centers on the causes and consequences of the MİT crisis. The film will also address the placement of listening devices, known as "bugs," in the offices of some high-ranking officials, including the prime minister.

His family is deeply conservative and devout; hers is modern and secular — and neither side is ready to back down. What starts as a love story quickly becomes a collision of two very different Turkeys, played out through family dinners, in-law battles and everything in between. Arka Sıradakiler is the title of a Turkish teen drama series, created by Birol Güven and directed by Hamdi Alkan. Meaning "those at the rear desks", name of the series was attributed to a group of forsaken students whose experiences are taken as subject of the storyline. The series began broadcast on September 30, 2007 on Fox Turkey. It is aired weekly on Sundays at 19:45.
