Summer 1944, Schwäbisch Hall. Contrary to the war propaganda and the decreed heroism, the 16-year-old boys dream of Swing music, sex and freedom - and of Lore, the air force helper from the air base, who attracts all eyes in her red swimsuit. At the same time, uncle, Knuffke, Bubu, tongue kiss and Hosenmacher suspect that they will not escape the horror of the front. "Stay tuned," Lore calls after them. Growing up on the grounds of one of Germany's largest psychiatric hospitals is somehow - different. For Joachim, the director's youngest son, the patients are like family. They are also much nicer to him than his two older brothers, who drive him into fits of rage. His mother, painting watercolors, longs for Italian summer nights instead of constant German rain, while his father secretly, but not discreetly enough, goes his own way. But while Joachim slowly grows up, his world, not only through the loss of his first love, gets more and more cracks...

East-Berlin 1987. Nico and Kai meet and wander around the night together. In the park, at a party and on the streets of the city they find out that they are very similar and still want different things from life. This night will be the beginning of something new for each of them.

The middle of the 21st century. A dystopian drama in an overaged and run-down Germany. When the so-called "Endjährigkeit" - compulsory euthanasia at the age of 80 - is introduced, a father and a son are forced to put their broken relationship to a final test.
