Miracles still happen—or so they say… What is the place of the sacred in the contemporary world? Looking again at a myth that haunts us, that of Saint Anthony of Lisbon (and also of Padua), through the timeless painting of Goya, 13 Alfinetes is a story of love, revenge, and blood. It begins with a reenactment of an episode supposedly occurring in medieval Lisbon, filtered through the cosmopolitan 18th-century Madrid, and returning to Lisbon today, where miracles, in truth, no longer happen.

Tells the story of the quartet formed by a friendly and bankrupt ex-football player, a rich and snobby surgeon, a powerful and arrogant executive and a scammer with a heart of stone. They are victims of a plane crash on the same day they met each other and end up dying. When they meet Death, they are told that their time to go has not yet come and that they must return to life to deal with their personal issues. However, Death warns that, in a year, one of them will actually die and the four decide to take this second chance to achieve their greatest goals in life.

An unattainable prize, the hidden truth, an attraction for someone already committed. Even the most difficult wishes can be fulfilled with just one call to the company Whatever, Whenever, which provides whatever you want, whenever you want. The price is low, but the cost is high: helping with another customer's order - no questions asked, whatever it may be.
