Nothing is easy for Torik, a shy orphan adopted by his aunt and uncle: he struggles to fit into village life, learn a craft, or find a wife. When Torik does fall in love – with Anjel, a local prostitute – he must face down the disapproval of his narrow-minded community and assert his right to happiness.

Artur is an Armenian guy who dreams about a career in filmmaking, but his grandfather wants him to take over the family wine business. When a bad review from an Estonian critic threatens to ruin the family business, Artur has to go to Tallinn to set things straight. There he meets the feisty Ingrid and things take an unexpected turn.

The hero of the film loses his family during the 1915 genocide in the Ottoman Empire and fights against Turkish militiamen. Disappointed in his life, Miro finds refuge in Soviet Armenia. His love for a refugee girl sparks his willingness to create a family and start a new life.
