Mathilde and her husband, who works in a minister's office, are not rich. Mathilde, however, loves beautiful clothes and her husband loves her too much that he lets her do anything she wants. One day they receive an invitation for an important party and she wants to look her best. She borrows a beautiful diamond necklace from her rich friend, but then the necklace gets lost.

The film follows Etienne, a 40-year-old car designer, who takes time off from work to study sexual mastery from a Zen master and several prostitutes, in the hopes of having the sexual skill to impress Laure. Laure, a blonde who was introduced to him by his friend Jacques, told Etienne on January 1 that she will not have sex with him until May 27 that year at precisely 9 PM.

François is 39, Muriel is 22... He is married, with a child, and lives comfortably. She is single and unattached. They meet by chance... He wants her... She resists... Gives in... Latches on to him... There is a name for it: adultery. Adultery in all its fleeting joys, rare moments, creeping jealousy, open conflicts, stolen pleasures, tears held back, tears shed.

"Chez Maupassant" is a French anthology television series based on short stories by Guy de Maupassant. Created by Gérard Jourd'hui and Gaëlle Girre, it ran on France 2 in three seasons in 2007, 2008 and 2011. It consists of a total of 24 episodes of which half are 60 minutes long and half are 30 minutes.
