Two strangers in Nairobi instantly connect over humor and heartbreak fall in love, only to discover that understanding someone is easy at the beginning but it gets much harder when marriage, pride, and unspoken expectations take hold.

Jo, a witty 9-year old terminally ill girl is taken back to her rural village to live out the rest of her short life. Her only comfort during these dull times are her dreams of being a superhero, which prove to be something her rebellious teenage sister Mwix, overprotective mother Kathryn and the entire village of Maweni think they can fulfill.

Anam, a professional mourner, takes on the task of guiding a wealthy family through a funeral ritual for its recently deceased patriarch but she soon discovers that the ritual may be just as much about her confronting her past encounter with death as it is about the family coming to terms with long-buried secrets.

Geoffrey, 12, and his brother Kimanthi, 15, have to travel to Shimoni to bury their grandmother. It is a most dreadful journey for the two as it will bring them face to face with the man who sexually molested them years ago.
