1863. Bloody battles are raging. A squadron of dragoons is pursuing an insurgent. It is the wounded Prince Odrowąż. With his last ounce of strength, he makes his way to the home of the administrator Brynicki. Mija Brynicka, the steward's daughter, risks her own life and compromises her honor to hide him. Odrowąż finds caring attention and slowly recovers. Love blossoms between Mija and Odrowąż. Lost in ecstasy, they dream of a liberated homeland and marriage. Unfortunately, the prince's mother's selfishness stands in the way of their love, as she does not allow this misalliance. She takes her son away, leaving Mija in boundless despair.

Janek, a poor clerk, falls in love with Zosia Grzybek, who comes from the small town of Budy. From the very beginning, her parents are hostile towards their daughter's partner. Soon, the girl's parents inherit a substantial sum of money. Thanks to this, they go to Warsaw to introduce their daughter into society and to enjoy the attractions of the big city themselves. Janek also goes to the capital, where he meets a man named Lopek, who is well versed in the social life of the capital. Lopek is supposed to help Janek win the hand of his beloved, but his services always cost 10% of the profits from the venture.

Joasia fiercely pursues employment based solely on her professional skills, nervously rejecting crude advances and disguising herself as unattractive to avoid harassment. When she meets her new, handsome employer Robert Rostalski, she begins to regret her impulsive decision.

Bronka, Franka, Amelka and Kwiryna are four girls living in the same poor district of Warsaw and going to the same school. They all fight for a better future but what the future brings is usually disappointment, sometimes even tragedy.

Bolek, a young locksmith’s apprentice, fights off two suspicious men to defend a friend and, fleeing the police, hides at a party where guests mistake him for the wealthy but naïve Lolek.

Both have the name Jadzia, besides the name they are also connected by a tennis racket. Jędruszewska is a champion of tennis courts, Maliczówna is an extremely charismatic owner of a sports store. Meanwhile, there is a fierce battle between two competing Warsaw companies selling sports equipment. The convergence of names and misunderstandings cause that the representative of the rival sports shop Jan Oksza confuses Jada. He tries to get the tennis champion to play their company's racket, but Jan takes Maliczówna for the champion. In the meantime, he acts as a sculptor, his friend. Among the gags and numerous misunderstandings between Jadzia Maliczówna and Jan Oksza germinate the feeling that eventually connects the two feuding companies.
