A conflict arises between the people of the town and the local priest when they have to decide how to represent certain biblical episode.

Betty has a crush on her tennis instructor Mike. He promises to call her for a date, but never does – she doesn’t know he sells drugs on the side. After botching a deal on someone else’s turf, Mike has to disappear for a while. He contacts Betty – then he’s killed before they can meet. Betty tries to find out what happened, leading her straight into a hornet's nest of vice.

In 1957, murders occurred upon the infamous, 'Island of the Dolls', in Mexico. A modern-day British journalist, Emily, deceitfully takes an assignment in London to research and uncover the truth of the unspoken event. With the assistance of her photographer friend and several Mexican locals, they travel to the mysterious island, and soon discover the danger of which awaits them. Despite some spooky, sometimes threatening incidences, Emily is determined to crack the case. Will she accept the truth, before she too remains a doll.

In a marginalized neighborhood of Mexico City lives Justino, who works at a shop and has little time left to live. One day, he's surprised at gunpoint by Silverio, a young man who attempts to rob him.
