Camille Sauvage

An African physician returns home after studying medicine in Paris. He marries and settles down to life in the bucolic splendor of his native land. When he has a confrontation with a white plantation owner, the white man sees red and casts a spell on the African doctor. Although he realizes the curse is an ancient tribal superstition, he still is plagued by the ghost of his late first wife. The black doctor and the white man are assimilated into cultures in which neither of them were born in this vexing jungle tale.

Young doctor Garondet is summoned by renowned Professor Orloff. At Orloff's castle, Garondet discovers that the mad scientist has created an invisible yet murderous apeman.

They meet again, talk politics, but the discussion veers off course: “Do you know how to make love? - Of course, I'm married.” Bryan sleeps with Corinne as Lucile looks on, then confesses to both women: he feels no remorse, but he's sad that it's so easy to cheat on your wife. “Corinne is a free woman,” as Lucile later tells Bryan. The latter is too puritanical and romantic to accept being just another fling. He thinks of nothing but the young woman, and is constantly on the lookout for her.
