Using a marriage broker, a Prince in dire financial straits plans to marry the wealthy daughter of a merchant, The girl is in love with the nephew of the prince. The film tells a strange story, in flashback, about a British Telegraph Company’s engineer named Hughes appearing in a distant Guria village. Falling in love with the beautiful Anna, the Englishman became the enemy of her brother, Bolshevik Nestor. Both Hughes and Nestor were shot dead by Lavrenty Mgeladze, who had once had everything, but later was dispossessed and driven out of the village. The film is based on Georgian medieval epic poem “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin” by Shota Rustaveli and depicts an episode of Nestan-Darejan’s release from Kajeti fortress.

Father and son decide to fulfil Salome’s dream and take her on a trip to Lithuania.
