The film chronicles the story of how the Nazis and the IOC turned, to their mutual benefit, a small sports event into the modern Olympics. The grand themes and controversial issues from the 1936 Games have continued to this day: Monumentality, budget overruns, collusion with authoritarian regimes, corruption and sometimes even bribery.

Divorced policewoman Maren and her daughter Amelie live together in Bad Tölz and are a close-knit team. Not just mother and daughter, but best friends. But then Amelie starts to study, falls head over heels in love with her fellow student Erik and moves in with him in a shared student flat in Munich. Without Amelie, Maren not only feels very alone in the apartment, but also in life. She has to realize that she has been hiding behind Amelie for the last eight years after the divorce and hasn't had a life of her own. So she slowly goes "back on the ice". On the uncertain, slippery and sometimes painful ice that is called "life".

These are the stories of relationships taking place in the fictional five-star hotel Fürstenhof, located in Feldkirchen-Westerham near Rosenheim with the plot revolving around members of the family room area, the hotel owners, and employees.

Tatort is a long-running German/Austrian/Swiss crime television series set in various parts of these countries. The show is broadcast on the channels of ARD in Germany, ORF in Austria and SF1 in Switzerland.
