Documentary about the Alcântara Family, descendants of Mestre Afonso who keep their roots alive in the streets and on stage.

The documentary offers an overview of the district of Cidade Tiradentes and its inhabitants. It starts by the acquisition of land by the public authorities from the 1970s onwards, to the occupation of what is today one of the largest housing projects in Latin America.

At the age of 93, shortly before her death, Anésia Pinheiro Machado takes the viewer on a journey through the 20th century, showing how she fell in love with aviation and the difficulties she had to manage to infiltrate a newborn environment and until then dominated by men. Anésia, in the interviews recorded for the film, recounts her experiences as one of the pioneers in aviation.

A mother and daughter embark on an emotional and ancestral journey, inspired by the creation of a family tree, and discover the marks of a lineage of women shaped by violence, silencing, and reinvention.

The documentary video follows the unique trajectory of the dancer Mercedes Baptista, considered the main precursor of Afro-Brazilian dance.
