In Rome it hasn’t rained for three years and the lack of water is overturning rules and habits. Through the city dying of thirst and prohibitions moves a chorus of people, young and old, marginalised and successful, victims and profiteers. Their lives are linked in a single design, while each seeks his or her deliverance.

Four episodes – Christmas, May 1st (Labour Day), August 15th (Ferragosto), Halloween – to tell four stories that delve into the human soul.

At dawn Marta will have to leave for Dubai carrying with her a large load of diamonds. She would like to share the night with Bruno, her new partner, opposed by her daughter Elena and her sister Giulia. The two lovers should be alone, but their peaceful evening suddenly turns into a nightmare.

Ulisse, Fulvio and Domenico decide to rent an apartment together in order to live with their modest work. However the three encounter any difficulties that have forced them to always be one step away from starvation. Ulisse has to maintain his wife and daughter selling recordings of important foreign singers, Fulvio has the task of reviewing silly scandals of celebrities instead of writing articles for major artists, while Domenico must keep his wife and children going to make love with old single pensioners.

Spring 2020. In the midst of the pandemic, Diego has just turned 18. Although he's named after his father's idol, Maradona, he doesn't really like football, nor lives in Naples anymore. After his mother's death, he moved with his father Franco in a Roman suburb, but he's having an hard time integrating and seems to get better along with the African immigrants living next door than with his new classmates. Things change after Tea, a unconventional young woman who's guarding an important secret, bursts into his and Franco's lives. Their forced coexistence will fuel Diego's coming-of-age journey.

Shortly after Daniel, or DD as everybody knows him, starts working at the hotel, one of the owner’s daughters disappears. He must do whatever it takes to find her and bring her home while still solving the ever-changing problems of the exclusive hotel guests.
