The childhood of a sixteen-year-old dreamer was spent in a shack with an always-drunk father. The only joy for the boy was walking to the pier, where he imagined himself as the captain of a brigantine sailing across the distant and mysterious sea. One night, he secretly left home and sailed away on a steamship, embarking on a journey filled with romantic and beautiful adventures. This marked the beginning of the unfulfilled journey of the writer Alexander Grin.

A Soviet cruise ship "Evgeni Onegin" is carrying cages with tigers and lions for a Soviet Circus. One loose monkey unlocks all cages, letting the tigers and lions out. Upon arrival, Pollack loses his memory and goes on various adventures with a group of thick-headed Odessa locals who think he is a harmless butterfly collector.

During the WWII a group of children are trying to save Stradivarius violin from Nazis.

The team of diesel locomotive builders is struggling to increase output. More efficient welding methods are needed, but all the efforts of Andrei Kostrov and his comrades to design a new welding machine are in vain. On this ground in the brigade disagreements arise. A group of skeptics persuades Andrei to abandon the fruitless search and go to work at the former site. Among the doubters is Kostrov's wife Taisia.

Fitil is a popular Soviet/Russian television satirical/comedy short film series which ran for about 500 episodes. Some of the episodes were aimed at children, and were called Фитилёк, Fitilyok, Little Fuse. Each issue contained from the few short segments: documentary, fictional and animated ones. Directed by various artists, including Leonid Gaidai who presented his famous trio of Nikulin, Vitsin and Morgunov into the cast. It was called in USSR as "the anecdotes from the Soviet government".
