A look at poverty in post-war Athens. Kosmas, a young man living in the slums, constantly tries to make ends meet, hoping for a better day. Because of debts, he gets tangled up in smuggling. His morals are tested and he tries to find a way out.

Paschalis Zoumpoulos, an otherwise decent family man and director of the house Frabalas & Co. belonging to his wife Corinna, is an incorrigible skirtchaser. His assistant Aristos covers as it can, but someday found himself in the dock because Paschalis stung a woman in the street. In court, where he ordered course a poor but clean-cut girl is in dire need of money, and that the way of obliging Paschalis to hire her as a secretary. A young man accidentally finds a bag belonging to a well-known industrialist, full of money, in a taxi. Although he is poor, he and his fiancée decide to return the bag to its owner, hoping to receive a reward for their good deed. However, a series of events and coincidences will embroil them in crazy adventures and upset their plans.

As Pelopidas is going around hungry, trying to find something to eat, a misunderstanding makes him seem like a thief. In order to escape his persecutors, he runs trying to hide. He hitchhikes and gets a ride by a truck, whose driver happens to be his fellow villager who knows the runaway’s past. Pelopidas has been working hard since his childhood, but due to his naivety nobody is serious with him. His return to the village where was born gets him mixed up in more trouble.

Loukas, a petty crook in prison, tries to exploit his connections with his fellow inmates to get ahead when he is released.
