Seven years ago, Max’s parents died in a car accident. Since then, the young man, now 35, has been treading water. He manages his father’s hockey memorabilia shop, lives in the apartment upstairs, and watches each and every Habs game with his friends. But he’s forced to take a hard look at his life when his girlfriend, Julie, leaves him, and his sister, Nathalie, comes back to town.

Waterloo will now have its own semi-pro men's hockey team, thus expelling the amateur women's leagues from the arena. To avenge their lost ice time, an impulsive hockey player and a ruthless octogenarian—a former derby champion—have a plan: recruit the city's disenfranchised and form an underground roller derby team. With the help of the Women's Club, they will prove that women's sports can also inspire crowds and that sisterhood is the ultimate act of resistance.

The Dishwasher

Montreal, Winter 2002. Stéphane, 19 years old, fan of Metal, student in graphic design, dreams of becoming an illustrator. But for months he has been caught in a threatening spiral: he is addicted to games. Indebted, without an apartment, avoiding his friends to whom he owes money, Stéphane takes a job as a dishwasher in a restaurant in a major Italian restaurant in Montreal in order to get by. There, he will meet Bébert, a cook who burns the candle at both ends, and Greg, a waiter with disreputable actions.
