Ok So-ri

The film depicts the story of four people working in a sewing factory in Guro Industrial Complex in Seoul and the problems they face.

The story of Ji-su who life was torn by two women in his life. One of them is his step-sister and the other is a barroom dancer named Kyung-ja.

Failing to enter the university of his choice, a young man is forced to enter a local college, but a series of disappointments causes him to give up his studies and begin a life of aimless travel.

Kim Hyun-pil, an orphan, gets caught for picking pockets. At the police station, he causes trouble for the police. Detective Koh, takes sympathy on Hyun-pil's situation and takes him home to raise him as his own. Hyun-pil grows into a fine young man under the Koh's care, and despite resentment and scorn of Koh's son Mook, Hyun-pil is nurtured by love from Yeon-ji, Mook's sister. But even as adults, the discord between Mook and himself forces Hyun-pil to leave their home...

In 1943, Yang Chunsoo, a descendant of a Koryo celadon maker, lives in a small village in the countryside, His younger son, Jongil, makes pottery without his father's approval in order to marry Poonim. When Chungsoo finds this out, he breaks every ceramic piece that his son has made. Poonim, without the money that was supposed to be given by Jongil leaves the village, angry and frustrated. Seven years later, when the Korean war erupts, Jongil returns to the village as an officer of the triumphant communist army. Later his elder brother, Jongsik, returns to the village as a South Korean army officer, Chunsoo stabs himself in the eye in order to stop the two brothers from fighting. The two brothers are, however, executed as scapegoats of an ideology. Twenty years later, Jinhyung, Chunsoo's grandson, takes over his grandfather's pottery business. He then learns about h is ancestor's mysterious past.
