Horacio Salgán

Coffee Masters is a documentary by Miguel Kohan, produced by Lita Stantic, Gustavo Santaolalla and Walter Salles. It tells the story of great tango of the old guard who, summoned by a rock musician, proposing a record to demonstrate its validity. This adventure, full of memories, humor and poignant moments, culminating with a presentation of the Masters at the Teatro Colon.

An intimate portrait of the relationship between Horacio Salgán, a legendary 98-year-old tango pianist, and his son César, also a pianist, who plays his father's music in his shadow. They recently met again, after 18 years without seeing each other. Just when Horacio is about to retire and pass on his musical legacy to his son, a sudden illness forces them to live together.

Beneath the gilded ceilings of the Palais Garnier, Gustavo Dudamel takes us on a colorful journey between Spain and South America, performed by the Orchestra and singers of the Paris Opera Academy. The program includes works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Leonard Bernstein, Astor Piazzolla, Enrique Granados, Kurt Weill, and others.

Malena, a young photographer, finds a box of family memories while helping clean her parents' house. Among the objects, she discovers some old VHS tapes that belonged to her grandfather, whom she never met. Through these recordings, Malena delves into her grandfather's passions for tango, embarking on an intimate journey that also leads her to self-discovery.

The film refers to the romance between a young mechanic of humble working background and a university student from a well-to-do family of professionals who face the difficulties originated in their different social origins.
