Victor Valance, an absent father and gambler, works with shady casino operations abroad. When he returns to Paris in need of money, he plans to take advantage that Pauline, his eldest daughter now fully responsible for the whole family, has begun to work for the Ministry of Finance. Pauline thwarts his new projects but when she realizes gangsters are looking for Victor she will put her life at risk to help him and save their family.

Five young conscripts lead a peaceful life in the barracks of a small town. Their officer is an eccentric man who lets them spend their time listening to music. The atmosphere changes completely with the arrival of a new officer who wants to prepare them for major maneuvers.

Vincent, a 20-year-old successful actor, is being offered the leading role in the film of the year: a biopic on Charles de Gaulle in his youth. At the same time, his parents move to Orléans, thus pushing him to live alone. The film follows his first steps towards independence.
