The film tells the story of a man struggling to save his family from destruction. Polat, whose family has fallen victim to a blood feud, settles in a remote region of Anatolia. There, he lives a secluded life, far from other people. One night, Polat helps Feyzo and his family, who are passing through the area, and finds himself caught up in a battle. Feyzo is fleeing from a group of men who are pursuing him. Shortly thereafter, the group launches an attack. Polat tries to fight back. However, as the attacks intensify, he escapes with Feyzo and his family and fights alone.

The police question Cemile, a young girl who was taken to the hospital with injuries and found to have alcohol and drugs in her blood, as well as evidence of rape, but they do not believe her. There is insufficient evidence and no witnesses. The person who reported the incident is nowhere to be found, and Cemile is accused of prostitution. Prosecutor Yalçın shares the same opinion as Commissioner Mahmut. Everyone who attended the party at the house where the incident took place and where Cemile went with her fiancé Sedat is questioned. They all say that Cemile came of her own free will. Cemile identifies them, but due to lack of evidence, all suspects are released.

Polat is a young man beloved by the entire town. Bahar, the daughter of Deli Ömer, returns to the town after many years to be with her father. Bahar and Polat fall in love. Unable to bear this pain, he sets out to sea to commit suicide. When Ömer learns that Bahar is pregnant with Polat's child, he agrees to give his daughter away. Battal Gazi, who had imposed tribute on the Byzantines and inflicted heavy losses with his incredible bravery, suffers an unexpected blow. The Byzantines set a trap for Cengaver, killing his wife and kidnapping his child. By drugging his son and hypnotizing him to turn him against his father, the Byzantines aim to pit father and son against each other. The young child is raised to believe he is the son of the Byzantine Alyon and to seek revenge on Battal Gazi, whom he believes to be his father's killer. Battal Gazi, however, swears to rescue his son at any cost and to mete out the punishment the Byzantines deserve.
