The story takes place in 1948, in post WWII Europe. There she meets Thomas, an Austrian refugee boy, who is being fostered by her Aunt and Uncle while they find his parents from whom he was separated during the war. After a rocky start, these children teach each other the true meaning of friendship and communication. This tale is based on a true story of the director’s grandmother who met a young refugee.
