The mysteriously familiar face of a deceased young woman shakes young surgeon Fabian out of his lethargy. On a whim, he leaves Berlin for Portugal, determined to win back his former girlfriend Doro, who works at an architectural company in Lisbon.

Summer, 1918. Two young women, Luise and Elsa live alone on a secluded farm in Alsace. As young German deserter Hermann comes along, a new relationship forms between the three, filled with love, competition and hate.

Thies lives in Berlin with his three-year-old daughter Ella and his girlfriend Isa. He has been suffering from depression for quite some time and has tried all kinds of treatments. When Isa is away for a few days for work and Thies has to look after his daughter, he is no longer able to fight his depression. He finally takes his daughter to his in-laws and faces up to his anxiety.
