Late 1800s. The arrival of the railroad to an isolated town brings the long-awaited progress, but also Oleguer, a dark loan shark with shady dealings. When he seizes and stays at Cileta and her family's farmhouse, the young peasant will do anything possible to get her house back. Even if that means following in the dark footsteps of the money-lender.

Lucas Santos, named El Santo is petty thief going continuously in and out of jail. Tired of small thefts, he aims to strike a blow that makes him famous and become the star of all media. His wife Lucia, a comprehensive and sweet woman, while awaiting the return of her husband, works as a stripper at a nightclub. Finally, Lucas gathers a band of petty thieves and decides to steal, from the National Museum of Art Reina Sofía, its most valuable painting: Picasso's Guernica.

After an absence of three years, Aitana makes a surprise return home with Gabi, her Brazilian partner, and their son. The reception from her parents is surprisingly cold. Only her wheelchair-bound brother is pleased to see her. But what affects Aitana most of all is the presence of a stranger her age sleeping in her bed, wearing her clothes, living in her house, and being treated by her parents as if she were their daughter. From that moment on, torn by jealousy, suspicion, and misunderstanding, Aitana tries to find out what is happening and who the intruder is until she discovers an unexpected and disturbing truth darker than she would ever have thought possible.

Diego, an Argentine doctor traumatized by the soccer since his childhood, is not satisfied with his life. Javi is a representative of kids who start playing soccer, a Spanish third division manager who dreams of an opportunity to change their fate. Suddenly, the discovery of a young Argentinian star, will join Diego and Javi in a common adventure, full of surprises and and picaresque.

This film evokes Valencia illegal gaming back in the seventies. A young peasant -Ferran- plays cards not much to make a living but as a distraction of his daily routine. Ferran meets a larger-than-life character -el chino- who happens to play cards for a living. This other guy is depicted as a Toni Manero look alike but his charisma an arrogance lead the innocent Ferran to join him in his schemes to make money to end up betting all on the next card table. At some point the action moves to Madrid and Ferran steps down losing track of El chino who takes on more dangerous games making a living out of Russian Roulette until the round gets loaded. Based on real events this is no Hollywood epic but it captures the desperation of the characters very effectively.

When a psychic fishmonger foresees Amadeo's death, his fellow villagers rally to give him the best final seven days for which one could ask.

Two couples meet for dinner giving rise to situations of entanglement due to personal relationships existing between them.
