Laser Fart began as a joke submission during a light month in 2004. Creator Dan Harmon was able to keep it alive with a Jack Black cameo in episode 2. On the third episode, Harmon teamed up with samurai lensman David Hartman and Channel 101 history was made. Laser Fart delighted audiences with its ironically epic feel and came breathtakingly close to breaking The 'Bu's record for longest running show. Then, in July of 2005, a weary Harmon wrote a ridiculous, slapdash script and the always hungry audience moved down the buffet, never looking back. This coincided with the "takeover" of 101 at the hands of a new generation of leaner, meaner (well, nicer), post-ironic underdogs like J.D. Ryznar, Ryan Ridley, Justin Roiland and the once-cursed Valley Pals. Laser Fart stands as a 101 legend and a cautionary tale: No artist has immunity, no show has true momentum. We can all go at any time.

When Phone Sexxers premiered in the summer of 2006 the audience granted the simple show about Phone Sex the honor of another episode. Ryan Ridley and Abed Gheith took their good fortune and ran with it, re-inventing themselves with every episode, right up until the end of the 2006 season. They managed to juxtapose the inner workings of the male phone sex industry with situations ranging from high-rise bloodbaths to the depths of hell, and did it with the kind of class and skill that landed the show Best Editing, Best Special Effects, and Best Writing at the 2006 Channy Awards. In January of 2007, Phone Sexxers ended their legacy with a touching self-cancellation that would make Mike Nichols proud.

In 2009, Danny Jelinek and Jason Whetzell teamed up to bring Channel 101 an offbeat, ridiculously well-made series consisting of five short segments from five different creators. Two years later, the show was cancelled. In between, "Everything" set a slew of Channel 101 records and produced a mind-blowing nineteen episodes. Clear your schedule and soak in every episode of this show - it's truly a Channel 101 classic.

Here's a history lesson: From April 2007 until February of 2011, Classroom was Channel 101's longest running show of all time. Tyler Spiers created Classroom in January of 2006 writing, producing and directing the first three episodes. With help from the hilarious Joe Davidson, Spiers started the show as a humble, character-driven pilot and it became the most embraced episodic series, schooling the competition for twelve screenings in a row. With its talented cast of Channel 101 regulars, the creative addition of Mike Rose as writer/producer beginning with Episode 4, and frequent plot hi-jinks, the show maintained its status throughout one of the best seasons of Channel 101. Closing the book with it's thirteenth episode, Classroom leaves behind a legacy of five first-place episodes, thousands of happy audience members, and a show that can teach us all a thing or two about Channel 101 success.

What can be said about Yacht Rock that hasn't been said by various magazines, newspapers and disc jockeys across the country? J.D. Ryznar and Hunter Stair's saga detailing the unknown mythical origins of a previously obscure genre of music struck the audience like a lightning bolt on its first episode, much like fellow 101 breakout House of Cosbys. Unlike HoC, however, Yacht Rock was never sued by its iconic characters' real life counterparts. In fact, it is said that at one time or another, just about every musician lovingly portrayed in the series has witnessed and enjoyed it behind closed doors. Yacht Rock enjoyed success on levels and in ways previously unattained by 101 shows, its title becoming a household phrase at radio stations, a bin at your local record store and a category on iTunes. But beneath its pop cultural triumph was an artistic one that often went undescribed: Yacht Rock's stories were always clever and sometimes downright genius in their assembly, weaving trivi...

Pretty President was the result of an unlikely collaboration between Shitcock co-creator Wade Randolph and House of Cosbys animator/editor Sevan Najarian. Smart, funny and fast, its who-gives-a-shit story may have been its greatest strength and weakness. Like about half of all prime time shows, Pretty President was impeached on its second episode.

The first Channel 101 series ever to go three consecutive months at #1, House of Cosbys was one of those rare 101 breakouts that went on to satisfy the world. In the show, the real Bill Cosby never came along and destroyed his own clones, but in real life, creator Justin Roiland and channel101.com site administrator Dan Harmon received "cease and desist" orders from Cosby's attorney in June 2005. The legal questions ground HOC's intensive animation process to a halt and House of Cosbys became Channel 101's first show to be killed not by the audience or by its own creator, but by lawyers. An unofficial fifth episode was created for the live screening by Romano and Falconer but is not served by channel101.com for genuine legal concerns. However, due to outcry and outrage, Channel 101 will continue to carry the first four episodes for your enjoyment.

A marijuana induced experiment that generated more data than ever expected, MESI was a show that taught us all a lot of lessons, none of which may ever be agreed upon. Rejected by the prime time panel, it was the only show to ever enter the screening via the short-lived "wildcard" system, then went on to garner more votes by acquiring the beloved Sarah Silverman and heroically committing to its anti-production value. After entertaining many, irritating many and confusing many more, MESI was put to an appropriate death in the bloody Halloween screening of 2005.

This was my entry to a very old (2004) Channel101 pilot for FX. IT SUCKS! DON’T WATCH IT! Out of all the things I’ve ever made, THIS is the one that I am the most ashamed of. I hesitated to even post it on this website, but that felt like the wrong thing to do. Let me start with the things that I love about this. I love Patton Oswalt as the father. I wrote the character to be like Dave from “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and Patton delivered the goods and then some. I love Rich Fulcher as the battery guy/ dad’s friend. Rich is amazing. I love Laura Silverman as the little girl. in fact, I love all the voices except for Toro and Moro themselves. I also love the character designs and I love the painted backgrounds by Steven Chunn. I love the look overall. It feels nice. But I dropped the ball where it counts the most. The story and the comedy.

The Musical broke a longstanding set of unwritten commandments at Channel 101: thou shalt not reference other shows, thou shalt not reference Channel 101 itself, thou shalt especially not admit, on camera, that Channel 101 makes you happy, let alone sing about it. Nevertheless, what it lacked in humility and aloofness, it made up for in devotion, boldness, friendliness, heart and some seriously catchy tunes. Add to that the fact that they bothered to conclude their own story with a tearjerking finale, and you have a masterpiece of meta-tainment and a permanent addition to Channel 101's gilded hall of fame.

When asked to say a few words about Reporters, Justin Roiland replied, "It's a modern tale and struggle of... uhm... I dunno. A fantastic epic following the struggles of two well-meaning newspaper reporters and their out-of-the-ordinary boss." He then left the room and returned moments later to add: "A.K.A. a slapdash turd of a Channel 101 show." This insane attempt from Roiland, Vatche Panos, and Kelsy Abbott charmed audiences just enough in January of 2007 to fill the Prime Time void left by the Phone Sexxers self-cancellation. Even later, Justin returned to add that "Reporters is the only Channel 101 show that has AIDS. You should put that."

Rock Gods, as a followup to the much loved but short-lived S.O.S. Fantome, officially established The Valley Pals as recognizable, bankable talent within the 101 universe. The second episode in particular felt like a group of young writer/performers truly finding their own unique voice, after which point it's easy to imagine that the tedious chore of animating this show became less attractive. Having realized that they could probably get just as many votes for one tenth the labor, The Valley Pals voluntarily retired their own hit show by going over the time limit in a very memorable fourth episode.
