Unlike in traditional *lenong* tales, Si Pitung does not die; he is like a cowboy who resolves a problem and then moves on. Si Pitung (Dicky Zulkarnaen), a student of H. Naipin (M. Panji Anom), gains the strength to fight against the oppression inflicted upon the common people by landlords. With the help of his friend Djiih (Sandy Suwardy), he thrashes the landlords' hired thugs as well as the colonial police officers. Meanwhile, the colonial police commander (A. Hamid Arief) devises a plan to thwart Pitung. Pitung’s girlfriend, Aisyah (Paula Rumokoy), is taken to become the third wife of Demang Meester (H. Mansjur Sjah). Just as the wedding celebration is about to take place, Pitung succeeds in rescuing his beloved, declaring that he will go to wherever people are in need.

Surya is the son of Tirta’s mother with her previous husband. Finally, Biang Terona defeats Bodin, and Somad reveals that Bodin is his father. The film ends with the eruption of the Krakatau Volcano.

Because she violated the doctor’s order to not get pregnant again, Yuwono’s wife finally dies while she is pregnant with her third child. Yuwono then marries an office staff, Ningsih. Harun, another co-worker who also loves Ningsih, tries to destroy Yuwono by tampering with the office’s financial report so that Yuwono is arrested and is investigated. Harun then influences Ningsih, regarding her standing as a stepmother, so that Yuwono’s house is taken over and the stepchildren, Netty and Susy, are treated harshly. The two children run away from home, looking for their father, and are separated for a time. When Yuwono is proven innocent and is released, he does not find his children at home and goes around Jakarta to look for them. He finally finds them again.

Amidst the election rivalry of two villages for the village head post, Cigugur and Cijulang, a troupe of Ronggeng artists, with its prima donna, Sari, arrives at the sub-district center for their regular performance. Sari and Dadang, the son of the Village Elder of Cijulang, are in love with each other. Dadang is also running as a candidate in the village head elections. But Ohim, the son of the Cigugur Village Elder, is also madly in love with Sari. He gets even more daring after a humiliating incident when he tries to touch Sari’s hair bun on the ronggeng stage. The touching of the hair bun is one of the rituals in the traditional art of Ronggeng. Dadang’s father is angered by his son’s relationship with Sari, since it could jeopardize his candidacy as the head of the village.

The cordial relationship between Irawan (Robert Syarief), the father of Yohana (Nike Ardilla), and Rini (Ade Irawan), the mother of Johan (Rano Karno), is disrupted due to Pak Irawan’s disapproval of the relationship between Yohana and Johan. In the meantime, Johan, who plays music with the older brother of Yohana (Sigit Subangun), attempts to prove that he is worthy of her. He enlists in the Indonesian Armed Forces along with Yohana’s brother. They are sent to East Timor. Just before he leaves, Johan is shocked to find out that Yohana is pregnant from rapes occurring during her recent abduction. Yohana later dies in an accident, but her child survives. Johan requests that his mother, Rini, take care of the infant Yosiana (Fitria Cintania).

However, her stepsister Umi, who is the biological daughter of her stepmother, always defends her. Reno, her schoolmate, loves Susy but it is not mutual. On one occasion when he eats at her place and makes the floor dirty, Susy is thrown out of the house, when her stepmother slips, knocks her head and is unconscious. Umi joins Susy and they stay over at a friend’s house. Umi misses her father, so both girls separate. The stepmother, who is looking for Umi, comes across Susy on the streets and verbally abuses her. Susy now dares to fight back and challenges her.
