Several residents of a Taipei apartment complex try to sort out their tangled romances in this Taiwanese drama helmed by Ming-Tai Wang. Hair stylist Angel can't get her aloof beau, Alan, to commit to their relationship -- a problem that escalates when Alan's first love moves in next door. Meanwhile, he's also having a fling with a middle-aged Mafia mistress who lives in the building.

In this portrait of small-time hoods rendered in rhythm-of-life anecdotal detail, Gao is the leader of a circle of layabouts including his sidekick, Flathead, and their girlfriends, Pretzel and Ling. He is also the originator of petty crime schemes, which promise to get the gang nowhere fast.

The whole story revolves around a woman from marriage, marriage to divorce encounter sexual problems as the main axis, reflecting the Taiwan society in this regard subjective and objective taboos. The film consists of three stories: One about a 5-year-old girl, one about a teenager, and still another about a 30 something woman involved in an affair with a married man. Without providing a definite answer whether the three leading actresses are playing the same person in different stages of life, the movie instead hovers on several consistent themes that keep on emerging in all the stories. For example, the image of drops of blood on the clothes, in the shape of maroon flowers.
