A Jewish pawnbroker, a victim of Nazi persecution, loses all faith in his fellow man until he realizes too late the tragedy of his actions.

On the verge of dying, Maria gives her son to Dolores, her maid, and asks her to not give him to the boy's father who abandoned her because Maria didn't want to interrupt the pregnancy. Time after, Luis (the father) returns from abroad with his wife, after seeing Dolores with the child, he understands that is his son. Dolores tries to escape with the boy but she's captured. The boy tries to kill his father which makes Luis understand that the boy suffers for Dolores. She is liberated and allowed to live with the child.

A plane blows up shortly after take-off during the credits. Then flashbacks detail the stories of all the passengers who booked flights on it.

The story revolves around Laura, a white singer, and Angustias, her longtime black friend, with both mothers dedicated to the education of their daughters: Alicia and Roberta. Trouble ensues when Laura’s daughter, Alicia, falls in love with Ricardo, a young black medical student.

Kids in an Ecuadorian slum have a benevolent doctor who tries to help them forward in life. Also they play soccer.
