Hathat Dekha is a 1967 Bengali comedy-drama film directed by Nityananda Datta. The film featured Soumitra Chatterjee, Sandhya Roy, and Jahor Roy in the lead roles.

An amnesiac man escapes the hospital he has been admitted to and is aided by doctor Roma Banerjee, who takes him to her father's country house. While treating him she falls for him and he for her. They marry, but an accident makes him remember his life as a rich man in Calcutta and completely forget the time spent with Roma. Roma follows him to Calcutta.

Dipto Roy (Uttam Kumar) returns to India after completion of his F.R.C.S. in London. He begins work at a village hospital, is an outstanding and devoted doctor and works hard to improve the hospital. He falls in love with the nurse, Achena (Supriya Devi) and they marry. His plan is that by working together they'll make the hospital well known for its excellence. But after marriage she wants to devote her time to the home and having children. This causes a bitter split between them and they separate.

The movie revolves around the unwanted incidents that happened in the princely state of Ratnagarh. After the murder of King Chandrakanta, one Dr. Palit (Kamal Mitra) asked for help from one Detective Smarajit Sen (Sisir Batabyal), as a family friend. Detective Sen sent his assistant Bimal to Ratnagarh to investigate and ascertain the security of young Kumar Bahadur, a new predecessor of the royal family of the estate. They observed that a mysterious lady Manjusri (Manju De) sang an uncanny song in the adjacent water body near the palace. Mr. Gupta (Bikash Roy), a suspicious botanist who stayed in the neighborhood also roamed in that locality. It revealed that he was deprived of the real property of the royal family and took revenge by killing the members of the family. He used one deaf and dumb porter as a hired killer. Ultimately, he was killed by the detective at the end before he could commit another murder.

Shreemonto, who raises his son Jayanta alone, finds solace in his friend Anuradha, but she soon leaves him. Years later, Jayanta falls in love with Anuradha's daughter.
